Use case

Import AliExpress reviews to your Shopify store

Your product has thousands of reviews on AliExpress and none in your store. Pull them as JSON, keep the ones that matter and import them into your review app.

The problem with copying reviews by hand

A new product page with no reviews converts worse, and the reviews your supplier already has are the best social proof you can get. But copying them from AliExpress one by one doesn't scale, and browser extensions and scrapers break every time AliExpress changes its page.

The API gives you the same reviews AliExpress shows on the product page, with the same filters, in a stable JSON format you can automate.

How it works

  1. Find the product ID in the AliExpress URL: the number in aliexpress.com/item/1005006123456789.html.
  2. Choose which reviews you want: only 5 stars (filter=5), only those with photos (filter=image), or those from your customers' country (filter=local&country=US).
  3. Translate them to your language with lang: es_ES, fr_FR, de_DE… AliExpress returns the translation and the original text.
  4. Export them to CSV and import them with Judge.me, Loox, Ali Reviews or any app that accepts a CSV.

Example: from AliExpress to a CSV in 20 lines

This script asks for the 5-star reviews of a product and writes a CSV. Change my-product to your product's handle in Shopify and adapt the columns to your review app's import template.

Node.js — reviews to CSV
// Export the 5-star reviews of an AliExpress product as a CSV
// that review apps (Judge.me, Loox, Ali Reviews…) can import.
const API = 'https://api.aliexpress-reviews.com';
const headers = { 'x-api-key': process.env.REVIEWS_API_KEY };

const res = await fetch(`${API}/v1/reviews/1005006123456789?filter=5&pageSize=20`, { headers });
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`HTTP ${res.status}`);
const { data } = await res.json();

const cell = (value) => `"${String(value ?? '').replaceAll('"', '""')}"`;
const header = ['product_handle', 'rating', 'body', 'reviewer_name', 'location', 'review_date', 'picture_urls'];
const rows = data.map((r) =>
  ['my-product', r.rating, r.content, r.author, r.country, r.date, (r.images ?? []).join(',')].map(cell).join(','),
);

console.log([header.join(','), ...rows].join('\n'));

Filters that matter for a store

  • With photos (filter=image, Max plan): reviews with customer photos convert best. The response includes the image URLs.
  • From your market (filter=local + country, Pro plan): reviews from buyers in the same country as your customers.
  • Translated (lang, Pro plan): the review in your store's language, with originalContent in case you want to show the original.
  • Rating summary (all plans): average, total and distribution by stars, to show at the top of the page.

Use them honestly

Show them as what they are: reviews of the product from AliExpress buyers, not from your customers. Many review apps let you mark the source, and in the EU, consumer law requires you to say where your reviews come from. It's also what builds trust.

Questions

Does it work with WooCommerce, Wix or other platforms?

Yes. The API returns JSON, so you can turn it into whatever format your platform or review plugin imports. The example generates a CSV, the most common format.

Can I import the review photos?

Yes, on the Max plan: filter=image returns only reviews with photos, and each review includes its image and thumbnail URLs.

How many reviews can I get?

Up to 20 per request on Free and up to 100 on Pro and Max, with pagination to go through all of them. The quota is 100, 1,000 or 10,000 requests a day depending on the plan.

Is the API affiliated with AliExpress?

No. It returns the public reviews AliExpress shows on its product pages, but it is an independent service.
